Thanks to a significant grant from the Ann Sonneborn Charitable Foundation, managed by WesBanco Trust & Investment Services located in Wheeling, Wheeling Health Right is able to provide critical health and dental services to women in need of care.

Women’s health services include primary medical and dental care, pharmaceuticals through the Clinic’s closed in-house pharmacy, breast and cervical screenings, including mammography and pelvic examinations, as well as family planning and mental health services. This grant also provides the full spectrum of dental care, including extractions and the provision of dentures. Services also include Hepatitis C testing and treatment.

In addition to the above services provided by this grant, Wheeling Health Right offers a Community Health Worker (CHW) to assist patients with medical compliance. More specifically, they assist the Clinic’s high-risk patients with care coordination in their home and community. Their role is to interact with patients through weekly visits and facilitate communication between the patient and Wheeling Health Right. This person provides culturally appropriate health education, information, and outreach in community-based settings to help guide the patients to be more compliant in their health care and empower them to change lifestyle habits. The CHW provides services such as advising on access to health and human services, social support, care coordination, and health screenings.

Funds are covering a portion of the wages, payroll taxes, and benefits of direct service staff; pharmaceuticals; clinic supplies and equipment; equipment maintenance; dental costs; contracted services of medical and dental personnel; and a percentage of indirect costs associated with providing these services at the Clinic.

It is the goal of the grant to assist over 1,600 women. Ms. Sonneborn was a native of West Virginia who created the Ann Sonneborn Charitable Foundation through her Last Will and Testament. The purpose of the Foundation is to support programs for women and children. Wheeling Health Right is extremely proud and honored to be chosen as a grant recipient.
